Interview with Denis Stojnic

MMAmanager: Hi Denis, how are you?Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with us.
Denis Stojnic: I haven’t been better, thank you for your time.
 
MMAmanager: Could you tell us little bit about yourself, where you coming from, where do you live, what to you do…
Denis Stojnic: I am professional full time mma fighter, born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and currently live in Rotterdam Holland where I train in Golden Glory

MMAmanager: When did you start training martial arts?
Denis Stojnic: I start training  Sambo  1992 when I was 12 years old.
 
MMAmanager: What disciplines did you train and how long?
Denis Stojnic: I start as young as 12 years old to train Sambo since 1992 as my first and favorite discipline and than kickboxing  1994, and Wrestling from 1998.
 
MMAmanager: Your Father compete 4 times in Olympics in different disciplines, where you interested in similar competitions or just MMA?
Denis Stojnic: My father was really dedicated person when it comes to different variety of sports all the way from Karate, Wrestling winter Sports but myself was really only interested in martial arts.

MMAmanager: When you decide to compete in MMA?
Denis Stojnic: I decide to compete in MMA when I was 20 years old, after I saw some old legendary UFC fights.

MMAmanager: Where are you traning now and who are your coaches and sparing partners?
I train in Golden Glory and my stand up trainer is Cor Hemmers,  Conditioning trainer Zdravko Stojnic, BJJ Dion Staring and Ismir Jusko svabo.
Denis Stojnic: And sparing partners are: Stefan Leko, Semmy Schilt, Alistair Overeem, Valentijn Overeem,Halid Arap….
 
 
MMAmanager: Golden Glory has lot of great K1 heavy weights, but how is grappling?
Denis Stojnic: Golden Glory is Specialized in Stand up and one of the best European Academies and since we have some MMA fighters grappling is also on good level.
 

MMAmanager: You had 13 fights, 12 wins and 1 loss, so what fight was toughest in your career and why?
Denis Stojnic: My toughest fight was against Serbian Fighter Damir Mihajlovic, who is very tough fighter and one of the reasons are I had food poisoning day before fight.
 
MMAmanager: We heard that you have done some street fights as well, could you give us some details please, how many fight, when, why………..?
Denis Stojnic: Our country was difficult to live in during the war and after because there was all different kind of gangs and lot of weapons, and  people know me as fighter
I was going thru lot of incidents dealing with people pulling guns on me wanted to prove something or just being drunk and that’s how I was most of the times fighting on street.

MMAmanager: Your next opponent is Cain Velasquez, very good wrestler, what do you think about him?
Denis Stjnic: I personaly don’t know Cain but I heard that he is Very good fighter, his Wrestling is on very high level as far as records show and all respect to him.
 
MMAmanager: What you think how the fight is going to be, give me little scenario from your perspective.
Denis Stojnic: Since Cain is good Wrestler I expect him to try to take me down after some stand up trade of punches, My job is to put him on his back if he take me down or just look for KO.

MMAmanager: Have you saw any weaknesse in fights of your opponent?
Denis Stojnic: I check his fight videos and I saw some weaknesses but I would like to keep it for myself and as my advantage try to use that against him in fight.

MMAmanager: You are fighting in biggest organization what that means to you?
Denis Stojnic: It’s my honor to fight in UFC, As a First Bosnian Fighter in UFC I am really Proud to represent my Country.
I would like to say Thank You to my manager Zoran Saric who believe in me and make all this possible to bring big dream to reality.

MMAmanager: What are your plans for MMA in the future?
Denis Stojnic: My plans and dream just like every other fighter is to be UFC Heavyweight Champion.
